Buy this to replace the original one on the feeder. It was amazingly simple to connect the wires to the feeder. Only conundrum is that the wires do pull out of the small colorless plastic connector very easily but can be pushed back in just as easily. I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around it once I had it all connected. It seems to be working splendid as of now.

I have had the feeder up since spring and haven’t had problems with battery as of yet since installing the solar charger in a area that has very limited sunlight exposure. I setup the feeder in a wooded area that is filled with large Oaks and Black Walnuts and directed the panel towards an notch of the tree canopy that would catch at least a couple hours of sunlight. The solar panel in my particular application does get covered by corn dust that I clean off when I refill feeder. The one area one must watch is when you are removing and installing the bottom cover of feeder, as the solar charger wires can be pinched when reinstalling the bottom cover on the feeder. The bottom does have an notch intended for the solar charger that wires run thru and its not huge deal to do so. I’m using the solar panel with an American Hunter tripod feeder with the mechanical timer.
